This year we thought we would celebrate AUSTRALIA DAY as a club and what a great day that it was. Fifty – yes Fifty of us met at “The Haus” Restaurant in Hahndorfs main street for breakie and or coffee.
Here everyone received a set of instructions, map and a quiz to answer while on a self-guided run which took them through the hills via Nairne, Woodside, Mt Torrens, Palmer, Murray Bridge, Callington, Mt Barker and ending up at the historic old pub, The Hagen Arms at Echunga.
While Shaun &Kirsty had a hiccup with the Vette at Hahndorf, at least he picked a good spot to carry out a rebuild of his engine. Jim, Catherine, Peter & Lynda stayed with them till the job was done and these guys then met us at the pub. All worked out in the end.
The rest took off one by one in a quest to see who are the sharpest and the not so sharpest tools in the shed - answering the quiz as they travelledthe route. We met everyone back at the pub where we had all of upstairs and the balcony booked for the club. I sat down and started to tally up the scores as the cars came in and must say, “there was more than one politically incorrect answer given to some of my questions”. Shame on you all!!
As there was a prize for the worst score, Catherine & Jim cleaned up here with a score of 4 out of a possible 28 but were disqualified for cheating followed by Pete & Lynda with a score of 11. They were also disqualified for cheating. I bet you guys don’t help Shaun out again!! Rudi & Kay took out the prize for the worst score but at least they followed the rules.
There was a four way split for 2nd prize with a score of 26 out of 28 and this was between Rob (BIG DOG) & Karen, Gary & Cathy, Graham & Debbie and the Lady Boys of the club Kiwi & Dave. Kiwi & Dave took home the prize as they did it in the quickest time. No doubt still sticking to the speed limit at all times. First Prize went to Breck& Helen which no doubt had the benefit of local knowledge and most likely, a higher IQ than most of the others.
We all chilled out with a drink or two, a great pub meal while the publicans Yvonne& Stuart snuck outside and chose their favourite Vette. This title went to Alan Litchfield’s 72 which was a great winner. Well done.
All in all it was a great day with plenty of laughs and a great way to celebrate AUSTRALIA DAY.
Message to Laurie and Margaret. Your answer to ‘What do they sell in COX COUNTRY’ was NOT correct!
Well what can I say Corvettes at the Port was great, the weather was perfect and also the cars, we had around the 100 cars in total when you count the ones out in St Vincent Street who did not come in because they did not have much time but still had to be there.
Also thanks to Bob and Sharron Middleton the trucks were a great success especially when you could hear them and also touch them.
Also we had 4 Corvette Z06 cars all C6’s a red a yellow a silver and a black one. We had a few hiccups but nothing that cannot dampen the Corvette club member’s determination to have a good day.
I have to also thank all those that helped make the day so good. Each year it seems to get better and better I think the venue cannot be bettered as the street is wide enough and the Port Dock Brewery is also a great place for a meal or drink. Thanks to Mothers poor Craig was so busy I did not see him have a rest.
Thanks to all the Corvette club members and their wives/partners for all their help and enthusiasm without that this day would not be what it is thanks Laurie (KB)

CORVETTE CLUB of SOUTH AUSTRALIA at the ALL AMERICAN DAY 17.2.13
The day started with 6 cars (the Southerners) meeting at Hungry Jacks Keswick at 8.30 am. We then ventured towards that sacred Northerners’ line where we met up with other intrepid devotees to American Cars. (I say this as the temperature was forecast to be 37 but made 39.4 in the shade).
We ended up with 15 cars as we made our way to Tilley Reserve for a day of looking at some great cars, sunbaking or was that burning, just having a good time. Considering the heat, it was a good turn out from all clubs & individuals.

Goof put his hand up and organised the March 10 run for the club.
Starting point was K-Mart Anzac Hwy Kurulta Park at the leisurely hour of 10 am. With thirteen cars ready for a days tripping through the Adelaide hills they set off. Well about half of them got out of the car park. When it came time to leave Neil’s car refused to budge obviously enjoying the admiring looks from shoppers had gone to the cars head. A few loyal club members stayed to offer support and advice on how to get the car moving again. Neil insisted it was the battery so a starter pack and jumper leads were utilised to no avail the monster refused to turn over. The RAA was reluctantly called and promptly attended, the starter motor being quickly diagnosed as the culprit. Mean while those who had actually made a start on the journey realised that they were a few vehicles short of a cruise and had stopped on the side of Greenhill Road to await the verdict on the remainder of their companions. So finally after 11 am we all re grouped and headed up Greenhill Rd to Uraidler, onto Oak Bank, Lenswood, Mt Torrens and then over the back of the hills to Mt Pleasant. At Eden Valley we left the main roads and headed into the back blocks of the Barossa along Tanunda Creek Rd, then down Menglers Hill and into the Barossa proper. We stopped for lunch at the Angas Park Hotel in the main street of Nuriootpa. Barry Koski and Christine joined us for lunch and a few cold ales.
