Christmas Dinner 9/12/23 at Dirty Devils Greenfields

The weather was raining cats & dogs. (We know as we nearly stepped in a poodle).

The people started rolling into the hall & were greeted by some weird but wonderful characters.

Tables were set up & the Corvetters were making their way to the bar.

Bow ties were handed out by Joy & myself. These were for our lucky door prizes.

The band introduced themselves as the Customline. They played Blues & Jazz. Maelyn welcomed everyone & pointed out the layout. Where the most important things were. There was a back door which led into the rest rooms, but you had to go through the door where the Grim Reaper was waiting for you with his shrieky voice & coloured eyes. Peter lovingly took Lynda in to see.

Then after the shock, Peter took Lynda onto the dance floor for a couple of twirls.

During the band’s break, Maelyn thanked the committee & helpers for all their help throughout the year. It has been a great year with people donating raffles prizes, which I might add, all helps raise money for the Heart Kids. Thank you very much. All donations greatly received.

Rob then got up & thanked everyone & gave his speech.

The meals were great, the staff busily served everyone. Some of the comments overheard were people thought they were in a series of Mash. A few thought they had flashbacks of jail, for a moment. (The trays had portions in them, so each individual piece of food was placed in the correct spot). As we ate, the band started to play again. After everyone finished their 1st course, I drew some lucky door prizes which were kindly donated by Tim Epton, John Coyne Darren (Y not) & Mothers.

When the band returned Catherine & Jim did the Boogie Woogie & a few more danced the night away.

Xmas pudding & Pavlova was served & more raffle tickets drawn. Everyone enjoyed the night.

It’s a pity a few missed out, but we are planning again for next year, so hopefully, you will join us again. For all who attended, thank you for the great night.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from Maelyn, David, Graeme & Joy.
