Corvette club of South Australia Inc.

As a child I always loved Corvettes, with a convertible 454, 4 speed being the prize.

In the summer of 1987 while visiting my sister, she had a friend visiting with a new car. A blue 1985 C4 auto coupe. WOW! He asked me if I wanted to go for a ride. Of course, the answer was yes. I can still remember how special it was.  A fuel injected 350 Chev with a targa roof. Not only did I have the opportunity to be in this, but I also got to go for a drive it.

Without hesitation I jumped at the offer. I don’t know if it was insured for someone my age, but sometimes you just must take up these once in a lifetime opportunity.  This memory of the Corvette niggled away in my head for years.

Over the years as family life took a place, I would always joke about how the new additions to our home were being built to fit my new Corvette. These jokes finally became reality some years later, well 26 ½ but who’s counting, in 2013 when I had no more excuses to not investigate in the purchase of a Corvette. I decided that I wanted a convertible, and I wanted it to be as reliable as a corvette could be!

I welcomed into my life “Pearl" the blond American muscular girlfriend, that likes to go topless 😊 most of the time. Pearl is an automatic 1987 example with a mirror conversion, and a white top that not many have seen. She has been fairly reliable, with a few electrical gremlins in the first few years. When I met Carol we realised Pearl was showing signs of jealousy. I don’t think she liked me visiting Carol when we were first dating. There were a few times we never made it across town to see Carol because Pearl spat the dummy and would just stop. She went home on a tray top, in disgrace more than once.

Once we started to pay more attention to her and join a little car club “CCSA”, where I have made lots of new friends and she has been more accepting of Carol being around.
