CHAPTER ONE

My name is Kevin Nagel and once upon a time I went to buy a car hoist and came home with a car hoist and another Corvette.

The wife wasn't happy.

The Corvette hit a gum tree 45 years ago and was parked up in a shed. I had to bring her home.

The car used to belong to Mick Hurl and I purchased it from Leonard for $8k including the care hoist. I was told it was a 1972 but in fact it ended up being a pretty rare 1970. So what does one do... You pull it apart. Here is the start of my saga.

Total strip down, body off, sand blast chassis and paint and then start to rebuild.

CHAPTER TWO

So since my last share in the November 2022 Newsletter, a lot has happened with the 1970 Convertible.

We spilled a lot of blood and when I say a lot of blood, I mean a lot of blood.

I have rebuilt the complete driveline with a lovely 454 to L88 specs and Muncie 4 speed, rewired all of the looms, recarpeted and recovered the whole interior, installed a digital radio and two 6x9 speakers, installed a new taco, installed power steering, installed 3" stainless steel exhaust, replaced the entire vacuum system, replaced the brake system, done a weeee bit of body work and sprayed on a touch of paint.

Don't ask me about the windscreen wiper door assembly and workings.

Don't ask Jemma about the heater core (not coil).

On the rebuild all I can say is nothing goes smoothly or to plan on a Corvette. So what should take two hours, takes 2 days. Two (plus five) years later... and just a few thousand dollars ;) and more blood, she is finished! Just waiting on a hiccup with rego and obtaining a NEW VIN (beware), she should be roadworthy in January. I'm not stating which year because it's in the hands of the Government now.

We will see you at Corvette's Rock The Bay (again, not stating which year) !
