On March 3rd, members gathered at two meeting points, Harbortown and Gepps Cross, to cruise to the Holden Manufacturing Heritage Museum. Departing at 9:45 am, our convoy made its way to the front parking area of the Holden Office building before venturing into the old Holden Plant. Nestled within the Elizabeth Holden Site Canteen, the museum serves as a memory for automotive enthusiasts. Run by volunteers, many of whom are ex-Holden employees, they meet weekly to meticulously curate the manufacturing legacy, offering insights into Holden's evolution. From its humble beginnings to the production of iconic models like the Commodore, the exhibits showcase Holden's contributions, including its wartime efforts in producing ammunition and vehicles.
The displays included the last clay & fibreglass full size models, export cars, various engines, items from the factory floor, machinery and the original Holden sign which was on Philip Highway. After our visit, we cruised to the Lyndoch Hotel, where approximately 45 members gathered for a leisurely lunch and casual conversations. Thank you to all who attended; I hope you all enjoyed the day. Angelo DeMasi
