Corvette Club of South Australia Inc.

Hi, My name is Catherine and I would like to report a crime. We were blackmailed into buying a C6 ZO6………

jackWell, Jim may have been… well, maybe not blackmailed, maybe slightly forced….
OK, so, here is the story…….

Way back when the first Silver C5 (Silver Fox - George Clooney - hence the name George) was born to Kirsty and Sean, someone (Catherine) may have said to the new mother (Kirsty) that if she ever decided to sell her firstborn, she would love first dibs on him.

Sean and Kirsty spent a couple of years personalising George to fit their needs and then one day, Kirsty came to Catherine and said, we are upgrading, would you like George. No hesitation - yes was the answer. (Jim was happy with this.. I think!)

The only problem was Sean and Kirsty upgraded to a Black C6 ZO6. (Named Jack) Oh wow.

Catherine said a very, very, extremely silly thing to Kirsty - Yep - you guessed it - If you ever want to upgrade, can I have first dibs. (Can you see the pattern forming?). To my defence, I thought they would have Jack for at least 10 years….!!

Jim and Catherine were very happy with George. Jim did some personalisation and also signed him up for club rego.

We headed off to the Ballarat Nationals in 2023. Was such a joy to drive a reliable, comfy, spacious car.

But then the problems started… no, not with the car, with Sean and Kirsty. See, Sean hurt his back in Ballarat and ended up in hospital. He may have slightly blamed Jack and his harsh Z06 ride. Kirsty and Sean also put their names into a draw to get a C8, so that made them start looking at other cars. They didn't win the draw, but they did get a bug… a 'lets upgrade the car' bug…

Hence 2 years after we purchased George, we received a phone call from Kirsty and Sean, we are upgrading… would you like Jack.

After some deliberation, no was the answer. We were happy with George, he was on Club Rego.. we didn't need a C6….

Are you still with me? Hang in there, we are getting close….

OK, agreement made. We will stick with George. (Don't tell Jim, but secretly, I really did want Jack… but it was a joint decision).

Phone call made to Sean and Kirsty and it went something like this.

"Thank you very much, but we will pass on Jack. It's only been a couple of years and we are really happy with George".

"Why don't you come and take Jack for a drive, just to be sure - and we can have lunch.. (See, that's blackmail, isn't it?).

"Oh, OK, lunch sounds great".

I knew as soon as Jim drove Jack, he would probably fall in love.

So, off we go down to have lunch with Sean and Kirsty. Sean and Jim go for a drive in Jack. When they came back and Jim got out the car, I said to Kirsty - Yep. He is sold. The grin on Jim's face was mammoth…!

So, a few weeks after that and some juggling of funds, we picked Jack up.

No regrets. We love driving him. He is so much fun and love that power that he gives.

Life is too short. Sure, we could have stayed with George and been very happy, but I think that would have been a regret if we didn't take Jack.

And Yes, some silly person said again - if you ever want to upgrade the C7, give us first dibs - but thankfully that won't be for a long time… I think….. I hope…!!

Catherine and Jim.
