John’s Corvette & Camaro

When I was 16 years old and very impressionable, I saw my first 1969 Corvette Stingray. It was bright yellow and owned by a local school teacher.

I never got over my impression of that car and never dreamt that I'd ever be in a position to own one.

On a 6 week trip to the USA eighteen years ago I spent about five weeks looking at cars, much to my ex's disgust! Whilst in San Diego I cam across this blue beauty owned by a US Naval Sailor who was being transferred to Italy. I made him an offer for the car which he declined, however, I did leave my travel itinerary with him, just in case. When I arrived in Valdez Alaska, I was thrilled to receive a message from him saying he agreed to my offer. Negotiations commenced and my car arrived in Adelaide six months later.

I decided to convert to a right hand drive after spending about 6 months driving on the wrong side of the car!
My other blue beauty is a 1967 RS SS Camaro convertible which I bought in Australia ten years ago.

I have been a member of the South Australian Corvette Club for about nineteen years, initially attending meetings in members' homes. Over the years the Club has held its meetings in various workshops, a horse riding club shed and the present location, the Seaton Ramblers Football Club.
It has been a great association with a great Club.
