Covid 19 cancelled the event in April 2020, as it did for most other motoring events. As restrictions lift we are able to return to some sort of normality, unfortunately everything is now packed into a smaller time frame. The Corvette Club of South Australia attended multiple events on 18th April (North and South) at Mallala and Mclaren Vale.
Attendees met at the McLaren Vale Visitor Centre at 8:30 and drove to Serafino's to await the start of the "Classic Parade" down the main street. Numbers were down on previous years, partly due to Covid requirements and also by the attendance at multiple events.Four Club Corvettes (Rudy & Kay C5, Ray & Kate C5, Paul & Charlotte C3 and Faye & I C3) turned out for the Parade (amongst a sea of Mustangs, both Ford Clubs showed up in force. I suppose it was their best option, not being a race track!).Once again the weather gods shone down on the event, bringing out thousands of spectators lining the main street, (included were Club Members:- Graham & Debbie, Rod & Jenny, Breck & Helen, Peter Bartlett; and Serge & Jo, Graeme & Joy and Alan Orchard who later joined us for lunch at The McLaren Hotel).Numbers this year were down to just over 500 vehicles, we followed the parade down the main street, the crowd delighted by the sight of the variety of cars on display. We made our way around the precursory loop, returning to Hardy's Winery, where we were ushered to the lawns out back joining a variety of vehicles, T-Bird, Mustangs, Pontiacs.
We headed off to our lunch booking, a bit later than expected, meals were ordered, and came out quickly as we had been allocated "90 minutes" for dining and we were 20 minutes late. All went well, meals were nice, company was great, another excellent day.Hardy's had a good attendance by spectators, as they had the largest number of display vehicles (from five different Clubs) and were in the central part of McLaren Vale.
Thanks to all that attended either as display vehicle, for lunch or as spectator support.
